Mission:
The mission of the Southside AECE is to
advocate for young children and to provide education and resources
to families, early childhood educators and the community on behalf
of young children.
To fulfill its mission, Southside AECE will:
- Offer professional development opportunities to those serving
in the field of early childhood education through conferences,
workshops, newsletters, leadership seminars, resource materials
and through the formation of a directors’ networking
group for centers in need.
- Reach out to the student population by offering discount
rates to training events, encourage faculty members at local
community colleges and universities to offer extra credit for
attendance at training as well as membership to professional
organizations and provide information to high school students
at college night events and career days.
- Raise public awareness of the necessity for:
- Age appropriate and developmentally appropriate education
- High quality care and education in meeting the needs of
young children and their families
- Provide leadership and advocacy for the community by identifying
and responding to issues related to the needs, rights and
well-being of young children and their families.
Opportunities for involvement:

Early childhood professionals and students are invited to
join Southside AECE and in turn enjoy a membership to SECA and VAECE.
They will be entitled to the benefits of membership in accordance
with each organization. They will be invited to an annual
teachers’ training event and a directors’ workshop
will be offered to those in administrative positions. During
the Week of the Young Child, members will receive information
regarding opportunities in the area and special events for
young children and families. This Southside AECE webpage will provide
updated information on local event and training.
