VAECE
Subsidy Project for NAEYC Accreditation
The
Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education has established
an annual subsidy to assist early childhood programs interested
in accreditation and re-accreditation from the National Academy
of Early Childhood Programs. VAECE will reimburse 50 percent of the amount paid by an early childhood program towards fee for any of the four steps in the NAEYC Accreditation/Re-accreditation process, annual report fee, or the verification visit fee.
Criteria
for Selection :
- At
least one full-time on-site staff member
must be a current member of VAECE.
- Awards
will be given during the VAECE fiscal year (January 1 through
December 31) to reimburse program for accreditation fees paid
during that year. Programs are encouraged to submit their applications
for accreditation subsidy as early in the calendar year as possible.
- Once
the funds are allocated for the VAECE fiscal year, no more grants
will be awarded for that year.
- The
subsidy will be awarded on a reimbursement basis upon receipt
of appropriate documentation of fees paid. [Refer to # 2 below]
Procedure:
- Complete
and send the current request form [refer to Viewpoint
and/or VAECE website for the appropriate application form] to
the chair of the Accreditation/CDA Committee. Contact information
for the chair of this committee is also published in the Viewpoint
and listed on the VAECE website.
- Include a proof of payment made to NAEYC and a copy of relevant form/application/documentation submitted to NAEYC along with your recent payment.
- Wait
for approval or notification from the VAECE Treasurer that all
funds are allocated for the current fiscal year.
Application for Accreditation Subsidy Through VAECE
VAECE Scholarship Project for CDA
The
Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education has established
an annual scholarship project to assist people working with young
children interested in obtaining a Child Development Association
(CDA) credential. VAECE will reimburse 50 percent of the amount paid towards the cost of direct assessment credentialing fee or 50 percent of the amount paid towards the renewal fee by the candidate.
Criteria
for Selection:
- The
candidate must be a current member of VAECE.
- Scholarships
will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
- Once
the funds are allocated for the VAECE fiscal year, no more grants will be awarded until the following fiscal year.
- The
subsidy will be awarded on a reimbursement basis upon proof of application in order to verify the status of the candidate.
- A copy of the credential must be mailed with the application in order to verify the status of the candidate.
Procedure
- Complete
and send the request form [See Policy Manual Section 14, Forms
for Awards, Grants and Scholarships, Member Support, MS004] to the
chair of the Accreditation/CDA Committee.Contact information

- Include
proof of fees spent (copy of canceled check) and a copy of the
CDA credential.
- Wait
for approval or notification that all funds are allocated for
the present fiscal year.
