The
Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education (VAECE) is an
organization comprised of early childhood educators, parents, policy
makers and other child advocates who are concerned and actively
involved in serving on behalf of the needs and rights of young children.
An annual conference is held to bring together these individuals
in order to enhance the quality of education for young children.
We invite you to share your ideas, research and experience with
others at our 2009 conference. The 2009 Conference is being hosted
by the Southwest VA AEYC and New River Valley AEYC. Please follow
the guidelines below to submit a proposal to present a workshop
or seminar. Proposals must be postmarked or received by email by
September 12, 2008.
CONTENT
PRIORITIES
Conference
participants will include a wide range of early childhood professionals
including program directors, teachers, providers, and advocates
working in a variety of settings: child care centers, family child
care homes, Head Start, preschool, and public/private schools. The
2009 Conference Planning Committee would like to have sessions on
topics such as, but not limited to, the following areas, as they
relate to our theme. Presentations in languages other than English
are welcome.
CHILD – assessment, child development, observation,
play, portfolios, literacy
CLASSROOM – classroom interactions, curriculum,
guidance, health and safety, indoor
environments, outdoor environments,
problem solving, Reggio Emilia,
research, socialization, technology
DIVERSITY – culture, family, inclusion, language,
social, religion
FAMILY – family support, parent education, parent
relations, resources, working together
PROFFESSIONAL – accreditation, administration,
advocacy,
affiliate leadership,
mentoring,
networking,
professional
development
FORMAT
Please
choose from the following formats:
Seminar
– 3 hours
Workshop
– 1 ¼ hours
GUIDELINES
- Display
visuals along with teacher and child created materials to enhance
your presentation. Conference attendees enjoy handouts.
- You
are invited to submit as many proposals as you wish. Be sure to
add a new dimension and title if you have presented the session
in the past.
Presenters
must provide their own A/V equipment .
- The
workshop committee will strive to select a variety of quality
sessions. Decisions will be final. You will be notified by December
1, 2008.
- Presenters
who plan to attend the remainder of the conference must register.
One free conference registration without the banquet will be provided
for each session. If a presenter attends any food event, s/he
will pay for the meal. If a session is presented a second time
or presenter does additional workshop/seminars s/he will receive
a stipend of $50 for workshop and $75 for seminar.

FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL
Submission
by email is preferred. The Call for Proposal form is available at
www.VAECE.org . Please email proposals to vaece.presentations@gmail.com
. E-mailed proposals will receive a confirmation of receipt.
If
mailing your proposal, please neatly complete the Presentation Proposal
Form on the back of this form, or you may type it using the same
format. Submit two copies of the proposal with
a self-addressed stamped envelope to:
